XSite Pro Review

"XSitePro is the software that changed the momentum of my affiliate marketing business"

Before I actually start the review, let me tell the story of how I came about purchasing XSitePro...

I must admit that I am a bit intimidated to do a review of XSitePro website design software since it has so many features and even after more than a year using it, I am still discovering more and more features. But I figured the best way to review the software is to go through the steps for building a website.

Step 1 - Inputting Website Information

XSitePro, in addition to being able to design websites, is a site management software. So firstly, you create a new website and on the website information tab, you input all the information about the website; website title, website description, keywords, author, other notes, etc.

Step 2 - Page Layout

Now XSitePro has many templates (inclusive of graphic headers and different layouts) in-built into it. So when you first create your website, it asks you which template you would like to use or you can simply go with a blank start-up. The page layout tab allows you to decide how your overall website and the pages would look. You can create and edit, headers, left and right panels, main page panels, footer panels and margins.

Step 3 - Create Webpages

For this step, you simply create a page and give it a name. For each page you can determine whether or not you publish it, whether the page is shown in the navigation menu, the site map, the page footer.  You can change the order of the pages, make pages sub-pages of other pages, etc, etc...

Step 4 - Enter Publishing Details

In this step you simply enter your hosting and FTP details... So that when your website is complete you can easily publish it. Of course, this can easily be done as the last step

Step 5 - Create Other Site Features

XSite Pro allows you to easily include other site features on your website such as adding a breadcrumb trail, adding contact details, creating a Google site map, importing pages creating in other software, formatting your navigation bar, creating a privacy statement, creating redirect pages, creating pop-ups... and much more....

Step 6 - Add Content

XSite is a WYSIWYG software, so inputting content is just like writing in any word processing software such as Microsoft Word. There are a number of common features such as, spell check, quick find, insert tables, insert pictures, special characters and numerous formatting functions. Of course if you understand html well, you can also view the code and edit the content there. 

Step 7 - View Reports

You will be able to view a number of reports in XSitePro so as to help you better optimize your site. These reports include the Site Overview Report which tells everything about your site - name, hosting company, webpages, the keywords used for each page, date created, date last modified, number of pages, etc, etc. There is a To Do List Report, which tells you what you should do (for each page) to optimise your site, for example, increasing the keyword density, writing a description for the page, including a heading on the page, etc. There is also a SEO Report, which tells you what should be done to improve the search optimization of your site.

Other Tools and Features

Some other tools and features of XSitePro include

Backup/Restore - You can easily backup all your work, which can be used to restore a project should something go wrong.

Affiliate Wizard - The Affiliate Wizard lets you input a lot of information (program name, affiliate link, commission amount, etc) for the affiliate programs that you'll be promoting

Google Adsense - XSitePro allows you to easily integrate Google Adsense into your content. You can of course change the way the ads appear - ad size, colour, position, etc

Snippets Library / Script Wizard - Snippets are basically little pieces of code that allow you to add stuff to your site. XSitePro has a library where you can create and manage your own codes. It also has several scripts built into the software such as "Print this page", "Add To Favourites", "Today's Date", etc

What I really like about XSitePro Website Design Software

.... is the ease with which all these features are integrated. You can create a website and have it published with 30 minutes, complete with your affiliate links, Adsense ads, navigation menu and site map.

.... The support for the software. There is an immense knowledge library so that you can find solutions to any problem you may have. There is also a great forum where users of the software (and there are many) can discuss all sorts of issues related to the software. In addition, the creator of the software, Paul Smithson, is someone who listens to his customers and seems to be constantly working towards improving the software. 

What I would like to see improve

... If your an artistic person, or someone that likes to build very fancy sites, then XSitePro does not do this very well compared to other programs (which are more expensive).

... Sometimes, I simply cannot get the software to do exactly what I want. However, I have never been able to find a website design software that does exactly what I want each and every time. XSitePro has given me the least amount of trouble.
